Comments about SOUNDGATE AUXHOND3 HONDA ACURA DIGITAL CAR INTERFACE AUX ADAPTER HONAUX4:

*USAGE*
I use this product in my 2006 Honda CR-V EX, which has a stock audio unit (AM/FM radio, cassette, 6-CD changer) and a connected stock XM radio antenna.

*CAVEAT LECTOR*
Contrary to the recommendation of the installation instructions, I installed this product even though I am not a professional mobile audio technician.

*TROUBLE*
I struggled to fully connect the wiring harness to the product, but eventually I latched that connection. I easily connected the wiring harness to the XM radio antenna and to the main audio unit in the vehicle.

*LIKES*
I like that once I connected the product to my vehicle's audio system and to my portable audio player (via mini-plug-to-RCA adapter), the audio came through very well. I like the HONAUX4 much more than I like the FM transmitter that I used previously.

*MINOR DISLIKES*
I don't like that I struggled to connect the wiring harness to the product itself: why should that connection not happen smoothly? I feel certain that I connected everything correctly, since the product works correctly.

The product instructions indicate that two switches determine its emulation mode: either (1) emulate an XM radio (replacing any existing one!), or (2) emulate a CD Changer. I don't like that the instructions fail to mention that these switches sit *inside* the HONAUX4, directly on its circuit board and inaccessible without popping the HONAUX4 case open.

I had assumed that the switches didn't exist, since I could not see them on the unit after reading about them among the instructions. I discovered the switches inside the unit on the circuit board after I accidentally popped the product's case open while struggling to connect its wiring harness.

The HONAUX4 uses plastic interlocking tabs/voids to close its case; I would prefer screws/holes instead.

*CONCLUSION*
Despite my dislikes, I feel very pleased with this product overall. I guess that a professional mobile audio technician would experience less trouble and confusion that I experienced. I would recommend this product.
