As with most after-market audio the trick is getting at the back of the factory head unit to install the accessory. The installation instructions are mostly mute on this topic. On my Highlander it turns out that prying off the trim around the center console was the key. Not for the faint of heart. Once installed this unit works well and provides much better sound than the FM modulator or tape converter options. I'm using a Griffin RoadTrip with phone plug as the physical dock. (FYI: the RoadTrip FM modulators have failed twice on me so I would recommend one for the FM use, but it makes a good dock when used with the 3.5mm phone jack to this head unit interface.)
